这四个词都有“花费”之意,但用法有所不同。
B. 不同点1.cost 只能用事或物作主语,而不可用人作主语,常用于 sth. costs sb. money 结构中。
如;The dictionary costs 15 yuan.
这本字典值 15 元。
This dress cost her 25 dollars.

2.take 主要指花费时间,其常见结构为 It takes/took sb. time to do sth.。it 是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的不定式to do sth.
如:It took me three hours to do my homework last night.
昨晚我花了三个小时做作业。
3.spend 的主语必须是人,常用于sb. spend time/money on sth. 或sb spend time/money（in) doing sth 结构中,其中 in 可省略。
如:He spent ten dollars on the book.
他买那本书花了10 美元。
They spent three days (in) visiting the students.
他们花了 3 天时间探望学生。
4.pay 的基本意思是“花费(金钱)”,主语是人,通常用于sb. pay （money） for sth.(为……而付款),pay sb.(付给某人),pay for sth.(为……而付款,偿付)。
如:He paid ten yuan for the T-shirt.
他花 10 元钱买了这件T恤衫。
You have to pay me 60 yuan a week for your meals.你必须每星期付给我 60 元饭钱。
